by Saturday, February 15, 2014
Our fashion designer of the day is Jenin Salam of Jays Jewelry. All pieces are hand made by her and sold exclusively on shopjaysjewelry.com and in boutiques across Michigan and select locations nationwide including Nyla Motley at Oakland Mall in Troy, Michigan. She chopped it up with ambernicolestyle.com recently to talk about her designs and answer a few questions!         j1     Her handmade pieces range from bracelets with crystal embedded crosses to Middle Eastern inspired pieces like the evil eye in which she briefly explains the meaning behind. j2           j3     j4     For all the last minute Valentine's Day shoppers, this would make a perfect statement necklace for your LRD or LBD! On becoming a designer: "I've been designing jewelry for almost 2 years now. I've always had a weird obsession with accessories since I was younger and always seem to pile them on haha! I decided I wanted to start creating ideas I had in my head in hopes that other fashionistas would also like my vision!" On being inspired by Middle Eastern culture: "Middle Eastern jewelry is very beautiful! If you look at music videos or magazines that relate to the Middle East or "foreign" cultures, you can see that it's heavily influenced by gold and the evil eye. I love the evil eye. Some people are superstitious of the evil eye, but it's really a symbol of protection and has become extremely popular in the fashion industry. " A staple jewelry piece every man and woman must have: "A watch! Everybody should have one in their collection. It's a simple and classic piece that goes with everything and I am actually going to be designing male and female watches for my collection soon."   Follow Jenin on instagram @jeninsalamxo and hashtag #jaysjewelry for photos customers have posted of their accessories.
